Mountain Climbers

Life has been even busier than usual for the last few weeks as Chris and I are helping coordinate the nursery remodel at church. Chris had a work day for the project today, so I decided to make a special day for the kids by going to Paris Mountain State Park.

My little "mountain climbers" had a blast running around and playing in the woods.

This is the only picture that really caught Peter's ear-to-ear grin as he ran around. (It's kind of hard to get pictures when they won't stop moving!) He just loved being outside!

And I took this picture to help me remember how small he still is. He tripped a couple of times going up this step--someday he won't give it a second thought!

Hannah was "setting" the tables here for "dinner" and I was supposed to "go play for a few minutes" rather than come take her picture. ;o)

It's wonderful to be outside in God's creation! Praise the Lord for a beautiful day!

A Very Special Package

We got a very special package on Thursday afternoon. Peter thought the best part of it was his doggy he had left up in New York at Christmas.

However, Mommy knew it was the beautiful quilt that Grandma M. had sewn for him. Isn't it beautiful?!? We'll be saving it for the day he gets to sleep in a "big" bed, but he enjoyed playing on it for a while that afternoon. (Actually, he just enjoyed being on Mommy and Daddy's bed--I'm afraid he had little appreciation for the beautiful creation he was sitting on. Ah well! Some day . . . )

Lego Adventures

I am learning to be a bit more creative with my Lego creations. I don't hold a candle to my husband, however, and I apparently am swiftly losing ground to my children as well. Can you guess what Hannah made this afternoon?

I walked into her bedroom this afternoon to hear her say, "I made two jack-hammers, Mommy." Of all things! Who would make a jack-hammer?!? Chris helped me understand this evening when he saw them and commented enthusiastically, "Like the ones from your construction book!" Ahh!

And yes, my son has reached new climbing plateaus in his effort to reach every Lego in the house.

And Hannah decided that Legos make for fun "rings" as well. :o)

Afternoon Activities

When my crew woke up about an hour early from naps, I decided to satisfy my weeklong craving for brownies as well as enjoy some fun time in the kitchen . . .

Peter helped for a bit, but wasn't quite as interested when he realized that Mommy absolutely would not let him have his blankie up at the counter while we were making chocolate brownies. (Such a mean mommy!) So he decided to hang out with his blankie instead:

And Peter added his own antics later on.

We followed that with crafts

And Hannah carefully set the table for "pretend" dinner. :o)

Brotherly Love & Logic 101

Hannah was so sweet Sunday afternoon as she shared her lollipop from church with Peter. It never seemed to cross his mind that normally you hold onto to your lollipop--he was quite happy to let Hannah take care of that part (and of course Hannah wouldn't have it any other way . . . ) :o)

And for those who have not yet been introduced to preschool logic, let me enlighten you with the following conversation which took place in our kitchen this morning.

As Chris entered the kitchen, Hannah alerted him with a comment of "Daddy! Spill!"
"Did you spill, Hannah?"
"No, Daddy. The milk spilled as I was walking."

Aaah!

Entertainment Options

Instead of turning on a television, we turn on the breadmaker. :o) I'm not sure who had more fun--Peter watching the breadmaker knead the dough or us watching him pound the breadmaker and shout with glee. :o)

Dining Milestones

As of Friday evening, we are officially highchair-less for the first time in over three years! :o) Our little boy is growing up!

Southern Snow

Well, the 1-3 inches predicted by AccuWeather Forcast was a figment of the imagination, but Hannah and Peter still thoroughly enjoyed a "snow day" at school today. :o) A friend shared pictures from Hannah's class . . .

As Hannah described it, "We had snow bubbles!"
