The First Flight of a New Decade

You can only imagine how excited the kids were (especially Peter!) when they saw the plane get loaded in the van for the first flight of the year! :o) Last Friday we decided to take advantage of an absolutely beautiful evening and find ourselves a flying location.

Unfortunately, the short-notice of our outing didn't provide enough time on the battery charger, so we actually weren't able to fly the plane that evening. We did enjoy a beautiful sunset though.

And we came back for a second go at it on Saturday with great success! :o)
Where's the plane?

Fall is here!

And we're enjoying the great outdoors! :o)

The kids do enjoy watching the men fell trees and had fun doing so again this past weekend as Chris took a couple hours to clear out a couple more. This evening as they were taking the garbage out, Peter "asked" Chris if they could cut down more trees (by using a sawing motion with his arm.) When that reply was negative, he presented a new plan: right hand moving in swift level, circular motions followed by both arms thrown up in the air and spread out. Interpretation: fly the BIG airplane (i.e. Daddy's model airplane . . . ). Although the answer once again had to be negative for multiple reasons, Daddy was quite pleased to be asked! :o)

Our New Adopted Aunt! :o)

Nobody wants to be called "Miss" all weekend, so "Aunt" Heather came to visit!! :o) We had a blast! :o)

My camera was out of commission most of the weekend due to sick batteries, so I grabbed Heather's pictures before she went home. :o) The kids enjoyed having "Aunt Heather" around and warmed right up to her (and had fun showing off, too). :o)

Isn't this the sweetest picture she caught of Peter? I love big brown eyes! :o)

My "little" girl is getting so big! :o)
This was obviously from Heather's camera! :o) We enjoyed Fireman's Chicken and Grilled Squash Medley--yummy! :o)

After dinner we took the airplane out for a flight. :o)

Lots cleared for delayed housing developments are actually pretty good flight spots, albeit a sad commentary on the economy.

Hannah and Aunt Heather! :o)

We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and saw some neighborhood fireworks from the van as we headed home. Since we had been up late Friday evening with the picnic, we decided that going for an official fireworks show which starts between 9:30-10:00 wasn't such a great idea for the kids. They were actually able to see some fireworks through the trees from our own livingroom though, so they were more than content. :o)

We also enjoyed some more icecream . . .

Monkey see, monkey do!

Our attempt at a Sunday morning pose . . .

And our second attempt . . . :o)

Thanks for coming to visit, Aunt Heather! :o)

Visits Fly By!

We thoroughly enjoyed a quick visit last week from Grandma and Grandpa M., but unfortuntately, the only time I remembered to bring out the camera was Saturday morning when we took the opportunity to introduce G&G to the art of flying model airplanes!

The batter's cage makes a great spot to watch the airplanes without Daddy having to worry about little ones stepping on the plane!
Even Grandpa tried his hand at flying! (The second box allowed Chris to take over when necessary.) :o)

"Is it my turn next, Daddy?"

Daddy and Grandpa decided to take the "short cut" home. :o)

We love you, G&G! Thanks for coming to visit!

Flying High Again

Late Saturday afternoon we braved the cold so we could watch Daddy fly his plane again! :o)

Definitely a blast!

Flying High

While Mommy and Hannah ran a couple errands this evening, Daddy and Peter went over to the track to try out Daddy's Christmas gift from Grandpa and Uncle Bryan. Peter really wasn't impressed on the ride over:

He was very excited, however, when he saw the contents of the big grey box. :o)

His squeaks of surprise and delight were lots of fun for Chris as he flew his new airplane for the first time. No pics of it in the air since you can't fly and photograph at the same time. :o)
