Haircuts!

Usually, we do haircuts in the evening after baths. However, since Mommy has been tired in the evenings, we decided to do them this past Saturday morning. We did haircuts all around, and everybody looks neat and trim now.

Here's Peter before . . . he looks pitiful because he wasn't feeling well due to a fever and ear infection earlier in the week.

And here's Peter after--this was the first time I've used clippers on his hair. Ahhh! SO much easier and Mommy was much more pleased with the results! The scissors just were not working this weekend.

Here's Hannah before:

Hers was a good bit more dramatic.

With the winter weather, her hair has been very flat and frizzy, so I suggested to Chris that we do something a bit shorter. Chris was amiable, and Hannah was excited about the prospect, so we cut off about 3-4 inches. It looks cute. :o) And as I passed the point of no return and started having significant second thoughts about my suggestion, I consoled myself with the fact that hair grows back. :o) By summer, it will probably be nearly as long as it was before this winter's shearing. And I must say, it is SO much easier to care for. No more dramatic, occasionally tear-filled morning brush sessions!!!

And here's Daddy with his freshly trimmed hairs. No recent before shots . . . it was bushy. Very very bushy. :o)

Something Besides "Projects"

So what besides projects has been keeping us busy these days? :o) Well, just the usual . . .

Haircuts all around . . .

I have to say, this was absolutely the very best Hannah has ever done for a haircut! She did fantastic! She sat as still as a mouse--not even once did I have to remind her to be still. What a blessing! It made the whole haircut so much easier and a lot more fun. :o)
And Peter did quite well for a 2-year-old, although things definitely improved when Daddy was able to sit in front of him to help keep his head in one place. He likes to look at Mommy's scissors. Imagine trying to give a haircut and every time you go to snip a tuft of hair, the person's head moves so they can see what you're doing. :o}
And Mommy got a hair cut, too. (No, Mommy does not cut her own hair.) :o) The "hairdressers" is actually quite a fascinating concept for Hannah. I usually go during a time when Chris can watch the kids, but I'm going to have to bring her sometime just so she can she what happens. :o)

Legos . . .

This is just one tower picture, but the kids have spent a lot of time working together to create various and sundry "buddy" trains with their Legos.

Art Projects . . .

Hannah busied herself this past week with her art project for the school contest. Mommy helped her with the inital idea and drew the shapes she asked for onto the construction paper, but she expanded upon Mommy's idea and did all of the cutting, arranging, and gluing herself.

Didn't she do a beautiful job?!? :o)

Christmas Boxes . . .

And finally, we filled two shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. :o) I had never heard of it before, but it was mentioned on one of the coupon blogs I regularly visit. We looked into it and were encouraged by the Christian goals of the program, so we decided to make it a family project. We had so much fun with it! :o) Peter didn't understand quite as well, but it was special to see Hannah really get excited about choosing gifts to give to someone else.

And now, we're preparing to settle in for some family time and a bit slower pace with the Thanksgiving holidays. :o)
